Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2025
Grand Gold Medal for Grillo Riserva – Family Collection | Gold Medal for Grillo Pinzeri
Yesterday in Rome, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2025 ceremony took place, one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world.
Being among producers from across the globe was a moment of great pride and emotion for us at Cantina Funaro: our wines were recognized as exemplary organic Sicilian wines.
Out of 7,165 samples tasted internationally, only 15 Italian wines received the Grand Gold Medal, and among them is our Grillo Riserva 2022 – Family Collection.
This achievement is complemented by the Gold Medal awarded to Grillo Pinzeri 2024, another jewel of our production.

A milestone in our journey of quality
These awards are part of a journey defined by consistency, research, and passion.
Over the years, our organic Grillo wines have collected numerous national and international recognitions, and every time the excitement is the same.
They reflect our approach to winemaking, from vineyard to bottle: artisanal care, respect for nature, and strong territorial identity.
Grillo Riserva 2022 – Family Collection
Grand Gold Medal – Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2025
Made with organic Grillo grapes from Salemi, the vineyard grows on marly soils rich in organic matter with a pebbly layer known as “Cuti”, typical of the area.
This wine represents the elegance of Grillo in its Reserve expression.
After fermentation in stainless steel, it ages for one year in large French oak barrels, preserving freshness, minerality, and aromatic intensity.
Tasting notes from the International Jury:
“Elegant bouquet of peach, white and yellow fruit, hints of melon, apple, pastry, and oak.
On the palate, it is full and rounded, with freshness, finesse, and marked minerality, resulting in a harmonious and refined sip.”

Our Grillo Pinzeri 2024 also impressed the international jury.
From the same terroir as the Reserve, vinified entirely in stainless steel, it offers complexity and depth while retaining the varietal authenticity of Grillo.
Tasting notes from the International Jury:
“Balanced bouquet of pear, peach, mango, and passion fruit, with floral and spicy notes.
On the palate, freshness and acidity stand out, balanced by a subtle bitter hint.”
The organic identity of Grillo
Like all our wines, these are certified organic and produced with a sustainable approach, respecting nature, biodiversity, and tradition.
The Salemi terroir, with its marls and “Cuti,” is perfect for expressing the soul of Grillo.
Clichés aside – we don’t just dream about Grillo, we put it in the bottle.
Our Grillo wines, Pinzeri, and Family Collection share the same terroir but tell two different stories of the same grape:
one is complex, structured, oak-aged; the other fresh, fruity, and floral.
We cultivate them with care, vinify with precision, and bring them to the glass with pride.
These awards inspire us to continue along this path, with the same passion, respect, and vision that guide us every day.
